NAMI Berks County is a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of individuals affected by serious mental illness, their families and friends. We accomplish our mission through education, support & advocacy.

NAMI Berks County offers monthly meetings to educate the community about serious mental disorders including bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, major depression and anxiety disorders. Information is provided about mental health treatment and services and mental health recovery. Monthly support meetings are held for individuals who are living with an illness and for family members.

NAMI Berks County is affiliated with NAMI PA and NAMI National. Founded in 1979, there are over 1,200 affiliates in the U.S. In addition to providing education, support and advocacy, NAMI supports research to determine the causes of brain disorders and to search for cures. NAMI also lobbies at the local, state and national levels for mental health legislation that provides for adequate treatment and services.

In 2011, The Mental Health Association of Reading-Berks merged with NAMI of Berks County to form The Greater Reading Mental Health Alliance. United As One, the GRMHA is dedicated to promoting mental health wellness and recovery in Berks County through advocacy, education and support.
