Each Spring and Fall NAMI of Berks offers practical, educational opportunities for the community by addressing a wide variety of pertinent issues. This year we explored Social Security Disability, The Power of Memory, Berks County Crisis Services, Organizing Your Way to Wellness, Dialectical Behavioral Treatment for Borderline Personality Disorders and Hoarders:Therapeutic Interventions. In September, Dr. Lauren Crabtree, co-founder of Project Transition, shared his life changing presentation “Help That Helps & Help That Hurts” at a special event held at Penn State Berks Campus. Also offered bi-yearly is an educational workshop for families of loved ones coping with mental illness presented in partnership with The Center for Mental Health provides practical information and tools to appropriately help to avoid burnout for families in it for the long haul, as well as a monthly Problem Solving group. NAMI's Wellness Recovery Action (WRAP) workshops provides individuals with a plan of their own making for dealing with stress, crisis and the internal and external personal triggers for both. Plans for the Spring of 2012 are under way, please check back as the time gets closer for specific offerings, and PLEASE feel free to let us know what you would like to see presented. |
