Each Spring and Autumn, NAMI, in cooperation with The Center for Mental
Health at Reading Hospital, partner to offer a 10 week psychosocial
workshop for families and friends of loved ones with mental health
disorders. Folks who have attended this seminar, often more than
once, feel strongly about the innate value that this kind of supportive
teaching offers. Here are some thoughts from past group members:
“It is empowering to interact with people going through the same
difficulties and frustrations that I face every day.”
“Seeing things from the mentally ill person’s point of view has given me
a whole new perspective!”
“Attending this workshop has given my son a new lease on life because I
learned so much as his caretaker. He is more independent and has much
higher self-esteem.”
“Sometimes it feels as if this battle is all my own. It’s great to learn
about all the resources available, especially the support group that
runs of the first and third Tuesday of every month.”
20 people who participated in the Family 4 Family Group over the years
were randomly surveyed about their experience – the numbers speak for
themselves:
70% Would attend again.
85% Would recommend the group to a friend.
80% Highly benefited from the program
80% Felt empowered and learned new ways to cope.
85% Overall rating.
We invite you to join us for an upcoming session. Call Maureen at The
